Alpha
Sigma Kappa (Women in Technical Studies)
Alpha Sigma Kappa is a social and academic sorority for women in technical
studies. They believe that "support is essential while pursuing a degree
in engineering, mathematics, or any other technical major." This website
provides information on the goals of the organization, its functions, and career
resources for women in technical studies.
American
Association of University Women
" Since 1881 the American Association of University Women has been the nation's
leading voice promoting education and equity for women and girls." Information
about the AAUW's latest projects, fellowships/grants/awards, and publications
(some in full text) are available on this site.
American
Society for Engineering Education
" Founded in 1893, the American Society for Engineering Education is a nonprofit
organization of individuals and institutions committed to furthering education
in engineering and engineering technology." This website includes listings
of fellowships and internships and an extensive online resource library. The
Journal of Engineering Education, which can be searched by author or title on
the ASEE website.
Association
for Women in Science
" AWIS is dedicated to achieving equity and full participation for women
in science, mathematics, engineering, and technology." This website contains
pertinent book reviews, access to the AWIS Magazine, and information about scholarships,
fellowships, job opportunities, mentoring programs, and upcoming events.
Foundation
Coalition
" The Foundation Coalition (FC), one of eight engineering coalitions funded
by the National Science Foundation, was established as an agent of systemic renewal
for the engineering educational community." The site presents many of the
products of this work, including extensive curriculum materials.
Global
Alliance for Diversifying the Science and Engineering Workforce
" The Global Alliance for Diversifying the Science and Engineering Workforce
is a collaborative initiative of the American Association for the Advancement
of Science (AAAS); Women in Engineering Programs & Advocates Network (WEPAN);
and the Association for Women in Science (AWIS). It is committed to increasing
the participation of women in the SMET workforce worldwide and supporting other
diverse groups including: ethnicity, age, discipline, languages, and cultures.
Its primary objectives are twofold: (1) to establish worldwide collaborations
with higher education institutions, corporations and government, and (2) to facilitate
the development of long-term, sustainable infrastructures in science and engineering
for a diversified workforce." Their website includes current events, special
projects, reports, best practices, and a bibliography.
MentorNet
"MentorNet is the award-winning nonprofit e-mentoring network that addresses
the retention and success of women in engineering, science and mathematics. Founded
in 1997." MentorNet offers online mentoring services and a resume database.
National
Academy of Engineering (NAE)
" The National Academy of Engineering (NAE) mission is to promote the technological
welfare of the nation by marshaling the knowledge and insights of eminent members
of the engineering profession." NAE also maintains a website titled, "Engineer
Girl," which encourages girls and young women in science and mathematics
and provides information about engineering careers. A link to this website, along
with publications, engineering projects, and event information, can be found
on their website.
National
Action Council for Minorities in Engineering
" Since 1974, NACME (the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering)
has provided leadership and support for the national effort to increase the representation
of successful African American, American Indian and Latino women and men in engineering
and technology, math- and science-based careers."

Association of Minority Engineering Program Administrators,
Inc.
" Mission: To provide quality services, information, and tools for our stakeholders
to produce a diverse pool of engineers and scientists, and achieve equity and
parity in the nation's workforce." NAMEPA holds an annual conference, offers
scholarships, and publishes a databook for members only.
National
Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE)
" NSPE is the national society of engineering professionals from all disciplines
that promotes the ethical and competent practice of engineering, advocates licensure,
and enhances the image and well-being of its members." This site provides
information for students as well as professionals on Scholarships and Internships,
Licensure, Ethics, and the Law, and Education. There is also a link to the Engineering
Times Online Magazine.
Society
of Women Engineers
" The Society of Women Engineers is the largest non-profit educational and
service organization representing both student and professional women in engineering
and technical fields". This site is rich in information, including upcoming
events and full text articles. Of special interest is the resume bank and job
database.
Women in
Engineering Program & Advocates Network
" WEPAN's mission is to be a catalyst for change to enhance the success
of women in the engineering profession." Their websites includes annual
conference information, a database of college programs for women in engineering,
statistics (for members only), a bibliography, a database of funding sources,
and a few full-text publications.
Women
in Global Science and Technology (WIGSAT)
" WIGSAT is an international non-profit organization. Its mission is to
promote the contributions women make in science and technology for development,
and to help NGOs, governments, bilateral and multilateral agencies and women
themselves to understand the gender dimensions of S&T and the implications
of this for development policy and practice." This website includes an international
bibliography on gender, science and technology, links to relevant governmental
and international websites, and various reports on pertinent issues.
Women in
Technology International (WITI)
" WITI's mission is to empower women worldwide to achieve unimagined possibilities
and transformations through technology, leadership and economic prosperity." This
organization has a website for employment opportunities, networking, discussion
boards, and information about upcoming WITI events.
